Traditional Ha Thai Lacquerware Village in Hanoi Vietnam
The Ha Thai Lacquer Craft Village

During our journey, we visited the Ha Thai lacquer craft village located in Hanoi, Vietnam - the birthplace of skilled artisans with remarkable craftsmanship abilities. For generations, this village has been a hub of creativity, crafting handmade products for prestigious brands such as Hermes. According to legend, the Ha Thai painting tradition originated in the 17th century, and the village is recognized as a craft village "offered to the king."

Sơn mài Hạ Thái: Tìm hướng đi cho sản phẩm Làng nghề

Their dedication to tradition, spanning over 200 years, blends seamlessly with our commitment to innovation, resulting in timepieces that are both a reflection of legacy and a celebration of modern craftsmanship.

Our timepieces feature a blend of pigment and oil that is ground together to create a durable and vibrant painting material. After the intricate painting process is complete, a layer of UV-protective coating is applied to the drawings on the dial. This coating not only enhances the longevity of the drawings but also makes it water-resistant, ensuring it remains elegant in different conditions.

Each hand-painted dial serves as a testament to the meticulous artistry of our skilled artisans. The intricate process demands the layering of different shades and details, each step emphasizing careful consideration. The painting material employed is oil-based in nature, which consequently entails a prolonged drying period. As a result, the surface necessitates several days to dry entirely.

With only 199 watches per model, each hand-painted dial tells a unique story, making your timepiece an exclusive work of art—crafted with passion, tradition, and the expertise of the artisans from the Ha Thai lacquer craft village.
